Peppermint Meringue Cookies

These Peppermint Meringue Cookies are a fantastic way to bring a bit of festive cheer to your holiday gatherings!

Ingredients:

2 egg whites
⅛ teaspoon salt
⅛ teaspoon cream of tartar
½ cup sugar
2 peppermint candy canes, crushed

Instructions:
1️⃣ Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 225°F (107°C) and line a baking sheet with ungreased foil.
2️⃣ Beat Egg Whites: In a mixing bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy.
3️⃣ Add Salt and Cream of Tartar: Sprinkle with salt and cream of tartar, and continue beating until soft peaks form.
4️⃣ Gradually Add Sugar: Slowly add sugar, beating continuously until stiff peaks form, which typically takes about 7-8 minutes.
5️⃣ Prepare Cookies: Drop the meringue by teaspoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheets. Sprinkle with crushed peppermint candy for that classic holiday flair.
6️⃣ Bake: Place the cookies in the oven and bake for 90 minutes.
7️⃣ Cool in Oven: After baking, turn off the oven, open the door slightly, and leave the cookies inside to cool for at least an hour.
8️⃣ Storage: Once cooled, store the cookies in an airtight container to maintain their crisp texture.
