Ingredients:
1 box (17.3 ounces) puff pastry (2 sheets)
2 tablespoons butter
4 Honeycrisp apples, peeled, cored, and diced
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of ground cloves
Pinch of ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon water
1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 egg
1 tablespoon milk
3/4 cup powdered sugar
Instructions:
Prepare Filling: Melt butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add diced apples and cook for 15 minutes until they begin to soften. Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg; simmer for 8-10 minutes until apples are fully softened. Mix water and cornstarch, add to the skillet, and cook until thickened. Cool to room temperature.
Prep Pastry: Thaw puff pastry according to the package instructions. Unfold each sheet and cut into 4 squares. Place squares on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Assemble: Spoon a heaping tablespoon of the apple mixture onto each pastry square. Fold over to form a triangle, press edges to seal, and crimp with a fork.
Bake: Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C). Beat the egg and milk together; brush over turnovers. Bake for 18-20 minutes until puffed and golden. Cool on a wire rack.
Finish: Whisk powdered sugar and milk until smooth; drizzle over cooled turnovers.
