Spritz Cookie Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened
1 2/3 cups powdered sugar
1 egg, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Optional: melted chocolate, sprinkles, sanding sugar, or nonpareils for decorating
Instructions:
Prepare: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and position the oven rack in the center.
Mix: In a stand mixer or using a hand mixer, cream the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg, vanilla extract, almond extract, and salt, mixing just until combined. Gradually mix in the flour on low speed until just incorporated.
Cookie Press: Fill your cookie press with the dough and press out cookies onto an ungreased, cool baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
Bake: Place in the oven and bake for about 6 minutes or until the edges are just turning golden brown. Be careful not to overbake.
Cool and Decorate: Allow cookies to cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Decorate with melted chocolate or a powdered sugar glaze and add sprinkles, sanding sugar, or nonpareils for a festive touch.
