FAQs:
How do you keep French toast casserole from getting soggy?
It could be because of the bread you used. If the bread you start with is too soft (such as white sandwich bread), it won’t absorb all of the wonderful custard that it should, and it might end up soggy. If you find yourself with a soggy casserole, for whatever reason, try baking it a bit longer until it firms up some
Does overnight French toast get soggy?
There are a few potential reasons why your overnight French toast may be soggy. One possible culprit is that you did not use dense enough bread, which allowed the custard mixture to soak in too much.
Why is my French toast not crispy?
Don’t overcrowd the pan—cook in batches if necessary to ensure each slice has enough room to breathe and crisp up properly. Time and Temperature: Medium-low heat is ideal. It cooks the toast slowly, making the inside custard-like while the outside crisps up without burning.
How can you tell when French toast is done?
If your slices are very thick, you may want to use a thermometer to check the center temperature of the French toast to make sure it’s done. For standard 3/4-inch slices, griddling for about three minutes per side is a good rule of thumb.
