French Butter Cookies

Whip up a batch of these delightful French Butter Cookies for a taste of sweet elegance. Here’s how to make them:

Ingredients:

½ cup butter, softened
½ cup powdered sugar, sifted
1 egg yolk, at room temperature
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 ⅛ cups all-purpose or cake flour
¼ cup granulated sugar, for coating

Directions:
1️⃣ Dough Preparation: In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and powdered sugar until fluffy. Blend in the egg yolk and vanilla extract. Gradually fold in the flour until a dough forms.
2️⃣ Chill: Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20 minutes to firm up.
3️⃣ Shape: Divide the dough into portions and roll each into a log. Freeze the logs for 45 minutes to make slicing easier.
4️⃣ Preheat Oven: Heat your oven to 356°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
5️⃣ Coat and Slice: Roll the logs in granulated sugar, then slice into even rounds. Place the rounds on the prepared baking sheet.
6️⃣ Bake: Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the cookies are golden around the edges. Allow to cool on a wire rack before serving.
